Cadaver – Pioneers of Norwegian Death Metal
Cadaver, one of Norway’s first and most influential metal bands, was formed in 1988 by Anders Odden and Ole Bjerkebakke. Their uncompromising style blended thrash, death metal, and progressive extremity, making them pioneers of the genre. Their debut album, Hallucinating Anxiety (1990), was Norway’s first death metal release, cementing their legacy.
After multiple lineup changes and a period as Cadaver Inc., Odden revived the band with Edder & Bile (2020) and The Age of the Offended (2023), alongside Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth). In 2025, they release Hymns of Misanthropy, a rediscovered collection from 1991-1993.
