Liars have never stood still. After forming in Los Angeles at the famed California Institute of the Arts, the band decamped to Brooklyn and released their first album, They Threw Us in a Trench and Stuck a Monument On Top (2001). The record saw them at the vanguard of the Brooklyn 00's music scene after which Liars confounded expectations and began producing works built on exploration.
